On July 6th, 2024, the WAIC Embodied Intelligence and Intelligent Robotics Industrial and Supply Chains Forum was successfully held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. The event was sponsored by the Minhang District People’s Government and hosted by the Minhang District Economic Commission, Investment Promotion Center, and the Shanghai Maqiao Artificial Intelligence Innovation Pilot Zone.
The forum brought together a diverse group of participants—academic experts, industry leaders, students and teachers, media, financial institutions, and the public—to explore developments in embodied intelligence and intelligent robotics. The event aimed to foster industrial cooperation and build a collaborative ecosystem across the entire value chain.
During the forum, Dr. Jandon Zhang, Chairman and CEO of iSAGE, announced the launch of the iSAGE Mobile Humanoid Dual-arm Robot: “白猱” (Bai Nao). The name “Bai Nao,” meaning “white macaque” in classical Chinese, reflects the robot’s lightweight design and agile movement.
This next-generation humanoid robot integrates advanced control systems that synchronize feet, eyes, hands, and brain, allowing it to learn and adapt continuously. Its "brain" supports multi-modal, multi-task, and end-to-end learning, enabling perception through vision, touch, language, and motion. The robot can convert voice commands into precise actions, allowing for natural interaction with people, environments, and objects.
Equipped with micron-level laser vision navigation, Bai Nao achieves high-precision positioning with an error margin of less than 5mm. Its dual 12-axis humanoid arms, combined with force sensors and motion algorithms, deliver millimeter-level accuracy—outperforming human hands in executing complex, high-speed tasks.
Designed for continuous operation across diverse scenarios and spaces, Bai Nao represents a new generation of robotic labor. iSAGE plans to further train this robot through motion capture, imitation learning, and motion libraries to enable self-directed learning and intelligent execution. It is expected to take on increasingly complex tasks and operate in larger environments with speed and stability, accelerating the integration of robotics into various industries.
At the forum, the Yangtze River Delta Embodied Intelligence and Humanoid Robot Core Components Consortium was officially established, witnessed by government officials, scholars, and industry representatives. iSAGE was among the first companies invited to join, signaling its leadership in the field.
As a key player in Minhang District—a vital hub in the Yangtze River Delta region—iSAGE is committed to deploying mobile robots in real-world scenarios and translating advanced technology into productivity. With deep industry experience, the company continues to empower downstream industries and improve quality of life.
The roundtable discussion, themed “Embodied Intelligence and Human Cognition: Imitation or Transcendence?”, sparked lively debate among participants about current capabilities, applications, and the future direction of embodied intelligence.
Dr. Zhang emphasized that true intelligence lies in combining large language models with physical or virtual agents to enable perception and interaction. He encouraged companies to ground their efforts in real-world products and data to enhance training and deployment efficiency.
Looking ahead, Dr. Zhang noted that iSAGE aims to develop smaller, high-efficiency models that drive autonomous robot evolution. These robots will need strong perception, decision-making, and execution abilities to perform complex tasks in unstructured, dynamic environments.
Through continued innovation, iSAGE is upgrading its embodied intelligence product portfolio and system ecosystem, aiming to create customer value and lead the intelligent mobile robotics industry. With a comprehensive product line and full-stack intelligent solutions, the company is committed to supporting global smart manufacturing and driving digital transformation worldwide.
